Your role

Are you an expert in data analytics? Are you incredibly organized with an eye for detail? We're looking for someone who can:
  • carry out and document independent model validation in line with regulatory requirements, the UBS model governance policy and its supplementary documents;
  • assess the model's conceptual soundness and appropriateness , covering both qualitative and quantitative aspects as well as the broader context within which those tools operate;
  • support the team head on project based work and coach junior team members;
  • interact and discuss model owners and governance bodies.

    Your team

    You will be working of the Model Risk Management & Control function within the Group Chief Risk Officer organization and work closely with C&ORC stakeholders all over the globe. We are focusing on validation of alert generating models that are used to monitor risks like money laundering, rogue trading or market manipulations. These models are built in-house or are bought from vendors and tailored for UBS's needs. Their complexity ranges from simple rules based approaches up to sophisticated statistical and machine learning based methods that process large amounts of data in many cases.

    Your experience and skills

    You have:

  • PhD/MSc degree in quantitative field;
  • solid background in data science and analytics including relevant programming skills, for example R, Python, SQL, Spark;
  • several years of experience in model development or validation, optimally in the compliance or operational risk control area of a bank, or even knowledge of tools like Actimize SAM, SMARTS Trade Surveillance, Symantec DLP, Detica or DR Synthesis;
  • project management skills or leadership experience.

    You are:

  • a critical thinker;
  • fluent in English, oral and written;
  • communicative and able to explain technical topics clearly and intuitively;
  • co-operative and team-orientated, while being able to complete tasks independently to high quality standards.
