IT System, Projects and Architecture Analyst job in City of London

Overall purpose of the role:

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server and associated technologies.

  • Working knowledge of UNIX\Linux and VMware.

  • Exposure to NAS and SAN based storage technologies.

  • Banking software, applications and Market Data experience.

Management of Projects & Systems administration

  • Design & Administer the branch systems infrastructures.

  • Design, support and deliver the appropriate change management procedures.

  • Identification of opportunities for efficiency improvements / cost saving in IT Equipment & Software.

  • Ensure that documentations, policies, procedures are up to date.

  • Draft detailed documentations when required.

  • Provide help to the support team (if/when) required.

  • Analysis, problem solving and escalation (if/when) necessary.

  • Working with other members of IT departments in EMEA, Paris Head-Office and liaising with worldwide IT Departments.

  • Ensure that Systems are up to date (Security / Patches).

     

Decision making:

  • The job holder will be expected to make recommendations regarding the infrastructure and service provided to users.

  • Equipment purchasing — supplier chain liaison.

    Reporting:

  • Assistance with the production of a weekly or monthly Projects & Systems reports.

  • Draft detailed incident report when required and concerned.

  • Other progress updates to immediate management as deemed necessary.

    Review of work:

  • Annual review with Head of Systems, Projects and Architecture.

  • Regular liaison with Head of Systems, Projects and Architecture and Chief Information Officer.

Main responsibilities:

    • Management of the systems infrastructure for EMEA sites.

    • Measurements and analysis of incidents (e.g. priorities as necessary).

    • Systems monitoring.

    • Establishment of quality standards and reporting (monthly or weekly).

    • Management of supplier relationships, where appropriate.

    • Preparation of written reports recommending action where appropriate to improve procedures & designs.

    • Identify areas of operational risks.

    • Regular audit & updates of applications including virus updates and security patches.

    • Follow procedures and policies (e.g. Change Management).

    • Follow Head-Office IT security policy.

    • Follow the branch compliance rules.

 

Key skills, experience

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server and associated technologies.

  • Working knowledge of UNIX\Linux and VMware.

  • Exposure to NAS and SAN based storage technologies.

  • Banking software, applications and Market Data experience.

  • Understanding of IT Security and standards,

  • Microsoft server and Workstation technologies; PowerShell, SCCM, SharePoint, clustering.

  • General scripting.

  • Database technologies (MSSQL).

  • NetApp and EMC storage.

  • McAfee EPO, OSS.

  • UNIX, RHEL, CentOS.

  • Network technologies.

  • Market Data (Reuters; multicast)
    Monitoring (Solarwinds, Zabbix).
