An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director of Media Relations, EMEA. This is an incredibly exciting time to join the global corporate media relations team at BNY Mellon.

Primary Responsibilities of this role include:

MEDIA RELATIONS

• Support the Director of Media Relations - EMEA in identifying and pursuing key opportunities that advance and protect the company's reputation as an investments company for the world

• Provide support on crises and complex issues in co-ordination with internal partners (for example: regulatory change, Brexit, change management etc)

• Deputize for the Director of Media Relations - EMEA in their absence

• Work with a range of senior BNY Mellon leaders to build relationships and be seen as a trusted communications adviser on a range of business matters

• Create, implement and own a tactical PR strategy which secures regular positive media coverage for the company's Talent focus across EMEA

• Be a strong partner to and collaborate with PR colleagues sitting within the investment management and the investment services and markets communications teams

• Develop a knowledge and awareness of the EMEA Talent-related public policy agenda and help create the company's corporate narrative on emerging issues and news

• Build a pipeline of Talent related thematic content which can be used to engage the media

• Support the Director of Media Relations in managing the EMEA PR agency

• Manage the company's local PR agency in Manchester

• Plan and manage events - roundtables, conference attendance, seminars, media receptions

• Identify and help secure speaking opportunities for BNY Mellon commentators in alignment with EMEA PR Strategy

EDITORIAL / DIGITAL

• Regularly write blogs and news stories for the company's global newsroom on bnymellon.com - partnering internal communications to leverage content with employees

• Create audio and visual content for the newsroom where appropriate

• Develop content for BNY Mellon's social media channels and help advance the company's EMEA activities in social media in partnership with Corporate Marketing

MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION

• Measure the effectiveness of external communications delivered in EMEA (media and newsroom) providing intelligence to the EMEA Management team; recommend and implement improvements

Qualifications

 
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


• 8+ years of related PR, media, communications and/or marketing experience

• Experience working in the financial services industry strongly preferred

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience required

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken is a must

• Ability to navigate a dynamic and complex global organization, work effectively in a matrixed environment and with multiple businesses and teams

• Excellent writing skills and an ability to write news stories and blogs quickly

• Strong understanding of what makes a good story for the media and how to secure great quality media coverage

• Good knowledge of and a passion to continue to advance activities in the broader external communications ecosystem (search, paid and social media)

• A genuine interest in and understanding of the European business environment, preferably financial services

• Well-versed in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) and popular social media channels

• Understanding of modern media and reputation measurement

• Another European language an asset but not essential

• Flexible and able to travel when required
